We’re getting into the spooky spirit at Sherwood Pines!
Get creative and dress up your pitch for our Spooktacular Pitch Competition on. Whether you go for creepy, cute or downright ghostly, we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Judging will take place once night falls, so get those spooky lights glowing and your Halloween decorations ready to shine.
Three hamper prizes are up for grabs for first, second and third place.

A spooky half-term adventure awaits
Spellinda, Froggy and their spooky pals have gone missing! Our mischievous campsite team have hidden them around the site, and it’s up to you to find them all.
Pick up your answer sheet from reception and set off on a Halloween hunt around the campsite this half term. Keep your eyes peeled, little detectives – you never know who might be hiding around the next corner!
Can you find them all? Happy hunting, little spook-seekers!
Halloween arts & crafts
Join us for some Halloween-themed arts and crafts. It’s a chance for little ones to get creative, make something fun and enjoy a little Halloween magic during their forest stay.
From creepy creations to spooky masterpieces, we can’t wait to see what our mini makers come up with! We look forward to getting crafty with you!

Go on a bug hunt
Several bug huts have been hand crafted by our staff and placed around our campsite, can you find them all?
Bug huts provide a nesting opportunity and hibernation place for many beneficial insects, which increases insect diversity in the area, and helps to naturally restart important ecosystem services like soil formation, pollination and nutrient recycling.
You can collect a fact sheet from reception and go on a bug hunt of your own. Happy bug hunting campers!.
Storytime with Gruffalo Granny
Visit Sherwood Pines for a day of family fun this October half-term and hear the brand-new Gruffalo story from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. There’s also a visit from The Gruffalo!
Gruffalo Granny storytelling sessions and Gruffalo appearances will be at intervals throughout the day, so remember your camera for that all-important selfie!

Room on The Broom
There’s some spooky magic in the air at Sherwood Pines this Halloween!
Join Witch and her friends on a magical Room on the Broom adventure to help find her missing hat, bow and wand.
Pick up your £4 trail pack, from the visitors centre, which now includes a special Halloween crossword activity, look out for magical cauldrons, and see where the trail takes you. Ready for a spellbinding adventure?
Pedal and Play
Whether you've just bought your first bike, honing your skills on the Skills Loop or looking for a two-wheeled family adventure, Sherwood Pines offers all you need for a traffic-free natural cycling day out. There are three way-marked trails to choose from, whatever your ability there's a route for you!
Cycling and mountain biking trails
Whether you're new to mountain biking or an experienced rider looking for your next challenge, Sherwood Pines has exciting trails for every ability. From easy, family-friendly routes to demanding technical trails, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Ride through beautiful forest scenery and discover miles of way-marked trails designed to suit every level of adventure.
Inclusive play area at Sherwood Pines
King John’s Castle play area at Sherwood Pines Visitor Centre is designed by Earth Wrights, it’s built for children and young adults of all abilities to play together.
Features include a wheelchair-accessible ramp and clatter bridge, a castle tower with climbing tree, sensory-friendly ground-level areas (like a den, tunnel, kitchen, and dungeon), plus a tube slide, balance trail, and trebuchet swing. There’s something for everyone—however they like to play!
Disc golf
Have you tried Disc Golf at Sherwood Pines?
Take on our 9-hole course and aim for the targets in as few throws as possible. Perfect for beginners and seasoned players alike, it’s a fun way to enjoy the forest with friends and family. Find it by the Visitor Centre and discover your new favourite sport.
Orienteering
Orienteering is a great way to explore the forest while putting your navigation skills to the test.
Whether you walk, jog or run, there’s a course to suit different ages and abilities. And for younger explorers, there’s the Gruffalo orienteering course too!

Forest walks
We've got three great walking trails to help you and all the family discover Sherwood Pines including the Ranger's trail which explores the outer areas and some of the historic features of this fascinating forest. The trails are all way-marked so no map is required!
Parkrun - Saturday's at 9am
Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They're open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.
They take place in pleasant forest surroundings and people of every ability are encouraged to take part. From those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to veterans; everyone is welcome.

Adventures at Mill Waters
Set beside King’s Mill Reservoir, Adventures offers outdoor fun for all ages. Take on the high ropes, bounce through the Net Park, brave The Drop, or race along the 100m zip line. On the water, hire pedalos, paddleboards or kayaks, or bring your own. With stunning views and family-friendly fun, it’s the perfect summer escape.

Farm admission & animal encounters
For over 30 years White Post Farm have been entertaining millions of children and adults, giving them the chance to get up close to a wide variety of friendly animals! With a range of seasonal events throughout the year, and exciting animal experiences, there is something for all ages!
With lots to do in both their indoor and outdoor spaces such as meeting the Crocodiles in Reptiles of the World or feeding the animals along the field walk, you can fill your day with fun, come rain or shine!

We’re pleased to welcome Loaded Streetfood to Sherwood Pines Campsite, serving up freshly made breakfast cobs and loaded hash browns, for the whole family to enjoy.

Wood fired pizzas
Find Event Pizzas near the facilities block and play area. Serving freshly made wood-fired pizzas, you can pre-order online or order at the van and collect at a time that suits you. Check below to see when they'll be on site.

Dizzies - mobile fish & chip van
Leave the cooking behind and enjoy freshly cooked fish and chips from Dizzie's Mobile Fish & Chip Van. You'll find them next to the facilities block and play area from 5pm. No pre-order needed – just come along and enjoy. Check below to see when they'll be on site.
